April Ross
April Ross was one of just a handful of women beach volleyball stars who won medals in multiple Olympics. Alix klineman, who is playing for the first time at the Tokyo Olympics and will attempt to win her third gold medal. Ross is also hoping to win her very first Olympic medal. This may be the last time she has the chance at age 39. However, she's convinced that top prizes can be achieved. If we do our best or even if we play well I feel like we can get that gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. That's why I'm taking a little bit of luck too. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a sister. She was able to participate in numerous activities at Newport Harbor High School. She competed in basketball and the track as well as her volleyball skills in the indoors as a prep athlete. In her final game she was clearly the standout. When she played in her time at the high school level, according to her college profile, she played as an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. She was named the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the year in 1999, for her performance. Also, she won the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are performing their roles in the year 2017. The reality is that Ross was a major player on the beach volleyball circuit before joining the duo. She has been able to win multiple events, one of which was with an iconic volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years from 2007 until 2013. She also worked with Klineman and herself. Together together with Kessy Ross, she won a World Title in 2009, while racing internationally. They took home a Silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the trio that could take home the gold. Ross Jennings was May-Treanor's replacement after she had retired. Together, they won beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics in 2016. In high school and the several years prior to hitting the beach as a professional Ross balled out with the Trojans of USC as a collegiate. Ross's Trojans experience was remarkable. In her first year at the school, 2000 was when she won the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of award and become an All-American. The Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. In her sophomore year, she suffered a tremendous personal setback but managed to be a second All-American. During her final two seasons in the Trojans team the team was led to victories by winning the national title in consecutive years. Her individual achievements have cemented her place as a legendary volleyball player. She won the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross studied at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross did not get to watch her daughter's climb to beach volleyball fame. In 2001 when Ross was in her sophomore year at USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. Ross is still awed by her parents who passed away. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration for her both on and off the beach.
