Following Justin Bieber's bilingual remix to Despacito (2017) the most well-known musicians started collaborating on reggaeton tracks, like Drake along with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna with Maluma with Maluma on Medellin (2019). The year 2000 saw a number of reggaeton artists were expressing displeasure at the genre's direction toward the mainstream. However, a younger generation namely Rauw Alejandro, sought to keep reggaeton evolving. He often included elements from electronic dance and other genres.
